VPS Usage Policy

🚀 VPS Hosting Usage Policy & Terms – ecHOST

At ecHOST, we’re committed to offering reliable, secure, and high-performance VPS Hosting services at affordable prices. Whether you’re hosting a resource-intensive website, running custom server software, or need root-level access – our VPS solutions give you the flexibility and control you need, without the cost of a dedicated server.

✅ Where and How You Can Use Your VPS Hosting

Our VPS plans are designed to support a wide range of legal and ethical use cases, including:

🔧 Common Use Cases

  • Hosting high-traffic websites or web apps

  • Running SaaS platforms or development environments

  • Hosting custom applications with full root access

  • Hosting private cloud storage or FTP servers

  • Self-hosted email services (within our guidelines)

  • Streaming media content (with legal licensing)

  • Hosting game servers, staging environments, or VPNs

  • Running panel-based hosting (e.g., cPanel, Plesk)

With dedicated resources, full control, and scalable options, VPS Hosting is the ideal upgrade from Shared or Reseller hosting when you need more power and flexibility.

⚠️ Why Not Use Shared or Reseller Hosting for Heavy Tasks?

To maintain performance and stability for all users, Shared and Reseller Hosting accounts come with resource and use-case limitations.

Prohibited on Shared/Reseller Hosting:

  • Hosting or serving video content (e.g., streaming)

  • Running cloud storage lockers or backup archives

  • Hosting email marketing systems or bulk mailing tools

  • Using server space for unrelated personal backups

  • Excessive CPU or I/O consumption

If your project demands high performance, content streaming, or specialized storage, please use a VPS or Dedicated Server instead.

📉 VPS Hosting – Restrictions & Limitations

While VPS Hosting offers much more freedom, certain activities are still restricted to protect the network and prevent abuse.

❌ Strictly Prohibited Activities

  • Cryptocurrency mining (CPU/GPU or any blockchain-related mining)

  • Email spamming or unsolicited marketing emails

  • Brute-force attacks, malware distribution, or hacking tools

  • Outbound DDoS attacks or participation in traffic exchange programs

  • Hosting open DNS resolvers or public proxy servers

These activities pose a serious risk to infrastructure, abuse policies, and could lead to account suspension or immediate termination.

📧 Bulk Emailing & Port 25 Notice

  • Port 25 (used for SMTP email delivery) is restricted by default due to spam and abuse concerns.

  • If you require this port, please open a support ticket. Approval depends on your VPS location, ISP, and intended usage.

  • For email marketing or transactional email, we strongly recommend using third-party email delivery services (e.g., MailerHub, Amazon SES, SendGrid).

📦 VPS Resource Usage

Your VPS includes dedicated resources, but abuse or constant high usage may impact overall server health.

Fair Use Guidelines:

  • Avoid excessive disk I/O spikes

  • Monitor CPU and RAM usage

  • Keep backups or intensive operations scheduled during low-traffic hours

  • If you expect heavy, continuous load, consider upgrading to a Dedicated Server
